Hello Everyone!

I just wanted to give you an update on what’s going on with the NYC DVX user group.

Most of you have sent me emails with your contact information and availability to meet. If you have not done so, I would like to prompt you to write to me as we are coming close to have our first meeting and would like to take your availability into consideration for your convenience… we would like to have as many people as we can.

Some of the already “in” members are not member of the dvxuser.com as of yet. I have encouraged them to join since they own a DVX100/A camera and are very talented people.

This club sounds promising for us; especially to the beginner ones… some of the members are already working professionals and can serve as mentor to many of us.

Please! By all mean… if you have any suggestion, question or expectation of the NYC club, feel free to share with us here in the Forum.

I look forward to meeting and working with you all.

Good news! :)

I just found a location to meet on a regular basis. Is the auditorioum of a Junior HS here in Manhattan. We will have access to a projection system for screening and Tv sets to show our work. This location will be temporary as I am looking to get access to the NYC's Apple store in Soho.

I will come back to you with more detailed information about exact name and location, I will meet with the school's representative on Wednesday to discuss dates of availability. His name is Domingo and is a filmmaker... right now he has a feature film :o in post production and one in pre production... he will also be looking into joining us... I invited him to come and check the dvxuser.com site.

Hey guys...
While we look into having "the real, big deal meeting" how about a very informal one on Wednesday 2/23 at 8pm for a cup of coffe or Tea. (this time because it seems to work the best for most of you)

We can all discus here where we can meet. Who can make it?

I am aware that some of you will be travelling from far and can't make it in such a short notice.... we don't want to leave anyone out. This is just a warm up as we plan to schedule a formal meeting with all the new members who are not yet part of the forum.

Alright people! lets get it start it. ;D

I can make it but thursday would be better if you had to pick another day. It would be awsome if you got the Apple store. They have a nice little presentation area.

Aram,

I am happy that you can make it... unfortunately Thursday will leave some people out. If Wednesday is of truble for you we can try harder for another day. ;)

Soho's Apple store is still my main meeting location target even though we got a great facility totaly for free.

Hey wassup, I am in the NY area. I make music videos and have a t.v. show in Manhattan and Brooklyn. I have a Panasonic GS50S (ultra compact 1ccd) waiting to find out what happens after nab to get a 1/3 3ccd prosumer. So far it has been gs120 (3ccd 1/6)(get it now and just wait to get something better) VX2100 or HDV FX1, and now the DVX has popped up (audio quality) I wouldnt of guessed sony would purposely nueter the VX and PD series but knowing sony's new (recent 10 years) habit of sub par quality its easy to believe. XL2 was also on the list but the XL3 is around the corner. :-/

Hello Everyone...

the time is comming close... :) So start thinking on the type of projects you would like to work on. One of the main goals is to help each others out... do individual as well as group project and refine those skills... and eventually do a feature toguether to be completed by the end of this year and submit it to film festivals. What do you guys think.

Right Now I am out of town directing a tv show... I managed to convice the producers to let me shoot it with the DVX100A... so I am looking up for the challenge. I will show it to you once is completed. The show is a pilot as they are going to test how the audiece will respond to their new programing.

The meeting is still on schedule for this Wednesday the 23rd at 8pm... location to be anounced.. it will be in Manhattan though. An optional date is Friday at 8pm. Is this a better day for most of you?

i was looking for a spot in dumbo but unfortunatly I had a fight with my girl and have to move so I havnt had time. the good news is that wednesday is good for me now so ill see you then, even if im living out of my car. :P

Finally,... a location has been chosen. We will meet this Wednesday the 23rd at 8:00 PM at:

AMC Theatres: Empire 25'S CAFE (on the second floor)

234 West 42nd St.
New York, NY 10036
42nd Street Between 7th and 8th Avenues
212-398-3939

Train to 42 Street; TimeSquare.
When you enter the theater, take the electric stair way to the left or the elevators to 2nd floor. I'd suggest to read the signs or ask for info to any of the Theater's Associate. There is a nice cafe there, it has plenty of seats for all of us.

I have been individually talking to most of you and I can tell you that we are all looking forward for this meeting. Everyone is bringing a positive and enthusiastic attitude to meet you all. : )

Well! I guess we will fegure eachothers out. When you start to notice that someone is aproaching and is looking all over the place like if he or she was lost. Feel free to say... Ah Haa! theres is another one.

I'd be there a bit earlier.

I may bring a table sign to read "NYC'S DVX"

PLEASE DISREGARD THE PREVIOUS LOCATION.

The AMC Theater: Empire 25's Cafe is out of business; as a result of that we cannot meet there. Sorry for any inconvenience this change may have caused for you.

We are still meeting at 8:00 PM
