GH2 First Video Shot with Hacked GH2 + PROBLEM with random color change in footage

Hi all, while this is a video that I made last weekend, and my first time working with the GH2 (lots of fun) the real question I have has to do with a random change in color from the GH2 footage.

As you can see at the beginning and end of the video the color in the singers face changes from a green to a red.
(Watch his face in the first 6 seconds of him talking, and from 2:55 - 3:00)
At first I thought this might have been my color correction, but the original camera footage has this change in color too.

Does anyone have any ideas what the cause of this would be?
I shot all manual, even the white balance, so that shouldn't be the problem.

Finally, just to comment about the GH2. I have worked with the T2i up until now. I still have my canon for many reasons, but the footage from the GH2 is just stunning. Youtube does the footage no justice, but on my computer with the raw files, I can see details in his eyes that would never be captured from the t2i. Very happy working with the GH2 and I am looking forward to more video shoots!

Check and see if you have iDynamic on. If so then turn that bad boy off.

Also, did you use mixed lighting?

Yes I did use mixed lighting. I am literally using bulbs I find around with 2 work lamps, and an $8 flood light :]
You know, college fun stuff :P

I just checked my camera, idynamic was off, but it may have been on at the time. I am pretty sure though that it wasn't since I knew not to touch that. Any other ideas? I thought at first it may be due to the flaring, since it was a green tint, but after looking at the footage again I find that highly unlikely due to the spontaneity of the color change.

I thought so too. That's why I asked about the mixed lighting. But then there's that flare towards the end. Wonder if that contributed.

I guess I will have to go out and buy some bulbs then to make sure my lighting is consistant.

Does anyone know what lights to buy to match the light in the work lamp?
They def dont use CFL or the other standard bulbs.

I don't know work lights very well, but i'm guessing they're halogen, perhaps with a CT of 2800K?

If you can pull the bulb, check the bulb # and look it up.

Definitely from the flares. I think you are getting very large but mostly transparent flare that covers his whole face. That flare dances around as you move the camera and changes the color of things through it.

Color aside, the image looks nice and sharp. The general public won't notice at all.
Thanks! I agree, that is why I decided to use that footage anyway.

Shot on a GH2 with Aquamotion v2 and a FD 50mm f/1.4 @ f/2.0
I had this lens from my fathers A-1, and I have heard lots of great things about it, and damn were they right.

I'm super excited to work on more projects with this camera.

I found out what your issue was today:

The lens pins are touching metal, and when they do the color shifts immediately to something crazy weird, just like in your footage. I had it happen to me with today a number of times and could replicate it by moving the lens mount around too much.

Later learned that I hadnt' screwed the lens support in all the way, which meant the mount was putting sever weight on the Micro 4/3 mount, causing the metal to touch.

Haven't tried blocking the pins with something, hopefully that works.

Lens pins where?
You do know I am using an FD 50 1.4 -> m4/3 adapter -> camera

Do you think it is loose at the adapter to lens? or adapter to camera?

I do know that the adapter "lock" is kinda fudgy. It has a lock position, but then goes past lock where I also notice the aperture is also a bit more open.

Yes. I was using a PL mount adapter. It was definitely from the lens connectors making contact in some strange fashion. Again, I was able to replicate the problem repeatedly until I pin-pointed it. It happened to be when I focused the lens, which was very heavy.

Adapter to the camera doing something weird, gonna have to test more, but that was surely it.

It could be that there's a little play there and it's touching, or it really needs something in between the metal and the contacts. See if you can get the camera to throw an error that reads "Lens not fully attached" or something like that, even with the dumb mount on.

It was also doing that on my camera.
