OK....Go easy on me, I videotaped my kids being silly and rambunctious with each other to test out my new Lex rig. I didn't have any lighting except for some walmart work lights. Before anyone says anything...the vignetting was added in post :). I was trying to go for a stylized punchy look...don't know if I accomplished that or not...lol. Any advice or constructive comments would be awesome.

All that being said, never really delving a whole lot into the realms of 35mm anything...it was really painless using the Lex.

Thanks for watching :)
Oh yeah...that is the ballad of ricky bobby in the background....hehe

all in all about 5 weeks....5 excruciating weeks. But it was worth it. My first problem was with smudge on the glass but that was because my f-stop was set higher than 5 and my shutter speed was set too high but after I fixed those things I was surprised how straight forward it was.

I would've like to see more light, but overall pretty good. You've got beautiful kids - you should be proud!

i thought it looked great! i have my LEX sitting at home waiting for my letus rails to arrive next week. did you use rails for your setup? what did you use for vignetting? great start!

I have it set on Indi rails with the Indifocus. All the post work was done in after effects. Yeah, it took alot fiddling with Fstops and shutterspeeds before I found something that I thought would work.

Thanks, they really love jumping in front of the camera and probably the only people that would get in front of the camera so I could do some testing. *Sigh* My little tax writeoffs (just kidding). Anyhow, I really do need to get a real light kit. I'm used to lighting in 3D so it is a little bit different lighting in the real world.

Looked really nice! What were your flash settings for the upload?

VP6 / deinterlace on / 600x337 / 1500 kbps. I know that it's a fairly large bitrate but I figure it is such a short clip I wanted to get the best image possible. I exported it directly out of After Effects. Normally I export it at 700 kbps.

So, I really like what you have done here. I see hardly any grain which is great because I am having that problem if I go below 1/24th. I think that its my HVX issue that I need to solve, but for your first shots, I think they are great. Are you just rocking one light behind you? I think the best is right at the beginning when she is setting up and you see the boy all in front , blurred: The true beauty of the Letus DOF shown there....

Were you showing any grain before you downres the video for web playback?? Mind posting a full 1080i still frame?
Nice Job

Good lookign Children youve got as well.

Thanks Chad,

There is a very minimal amount of grain in full res but I don't think it is coming from the adapter, just from the camera. On the XH-A1 I have the gain set to -3.I am also using a cheap 500watt worklight set to the right side of me off screen.

Shhhhh, you mean you gaffered the scenes yourself
I loved the lighting! worked nicely with the colour preset and the subjects faces, especially the opening CU.

You diffuse the light at all? comes of a flattering bit soft, as opposed to the regular harshness of those 500watt badboys.
