First time I can't transfer Firestore to FCP 5.1.2

Trying to figure this one out....

I've been transferring footage from the FS100 into FCP for months without any probs.
All settings for 720p60 capture in FCP remain the same; I always organize P2 on the Firestore, enable computer connection for it to mount on the desktop and aim FCP to the right directory via P2 import.

This time when I try the P2 import, FCP doesn't see anything to import on the FS100. When the Firestore is connected via FW to the HVX, I can watch & hear the various clips on playback no problems. So if I can watch the clips via the HVX, why can't FCP see them on the Firestore? I need to get these clips off the FS100 ASAP. Thanks guys!

ozduc,

I upgrade the Firestore each time a new upgrade is available. My last upgrade was the current software (just before Christmas).

My Mac Quad has been running under OSX 10.4.8 for months, no other major software installs or upgrades lately.

First, try copying the contents of the FS-100 to your media drive and import from the media drive. This at least gets them on your drive while you experiment.

Next, trash your FCP prefs.

While I have heard of and experienced numerous import problems with FCP 5.1.2, failure to see clips was not one of them. Many of these issues can be fixed with a simple trashing of FCP prefs. Try it and let us know.

I trashed FCP's plist and copied all Firestore contents to a FW drive.

Tried a P2 import via FCP from the Firestore archive as well as from the Firestore itself again with no luck.

FWIW, the Firestore, once mounted on the desktop shows these directories and contents:

folder 0 (empty)
folder 1 (empty)
folder 2 (empty)
folder 3 (empty)
folder 4 (empty)
folder 5 (empty)
folder 6 (empty)
folder 7 (empty)
folder 8 (empty)
folder 9 (empty)
folder 20061223-192412-01 (which contains 14 .dv files, all when I attempt to play via QT show up as large multicolored pixels that scroll vertically while audio plays at a slow choppy speed).
CONTENTS folder (which contains folders audio, clip, icon, proxy, video and voice, all of which are empty).
Desktop DB
Desktop DF
fs100.bin
fwxdc.dat
log folder (which contains 20061129-132833-0001ECA2.inf ,FSconfig.txt and log.txt).

Being that these clips play back perfectly from the Firestore when viewing via the HVX lcd display, is there still the chance I won't be able to transfer them to FCP? Thanks.

If you have .dv files on the Firestore, then you need to run the Organize P2 command. This is a pre-requisite for FCP to be able to import MXF files. You have either recorded in the wrong format on your FS-100 or you have failed to Organize P2. In either event, this is not the P2 FCP bug; it is, I hate to tell you, user error.
