GH2 First tests with my new GH2

Here's some stills from footage I shot last night with my GH2.. I'll post the footage soon.

This is my son just before bed. On both shots I used one soft box for lighting, at about 320 ISO.

I really like this camera so far. The image is breathtaking. My camera is unhacked!

This is with the kit lens, can't wait to try my primes when my adapters arrive!

looks great man, your sons gonna be a lady killer. the girls are gonna love those big blue eyes. You should teach him how to act if he's into it. My son did his first Feature film when he was 4. (The sunset sky) IMDB. He had a blast, not to mention loved the attention.

Ha! yeah everybody tells us that. He got those from his mom. Not sure where the blonde came from. I'm a brunette and she's a red head. He's actually going to be in my new movie. I wanted to wait til he was a bit older. His attention span is pretty short right now.

Those grabs look great. I'm still surprised that our camera is just a plain ol' 8-bit 4:2:0 device. How the heck are we getting such good shadow roll-off?

Yeah, it can be tough getting kids to pay attention. The director that my son worked with was really clever at getting him to shoot the scenes in the way he wanted. He made a game of getting the shots he needed. And it suprisingly worked well. Just have to be innovative to get them interested for long periods.

I got the chance to test it out some more now that my adapters have arrived. Shot this sequence (will have video tomorrow) last night, to test the lighting and do some quick shots.

I used a vintage Yashica m42 lens, 50mm 1.8 for these shots. 2 soft boxes for lighting.

I want to, but i don't know which one to use. I've gone through that whole thread, and all those code names and stuff just confuses the crap out of me.

I just noticed that the tiny bit of color correction I did introduced quite a bit of noise.. hmm... thats not a whole lot of room to color correct.

Use Quantum (I'm on V7 now), and pick the lower end of the codec quality (still around 100mbps, but lower-end cards will thank you).

so I've got quantum 7 loaded in ptool.. do i have to make any changes in there if i'm not using one of those sandisk extreme cards?

I've got it hacked, but which setting in camera is it? I have it on 24h and it won't record for longer than a sec or two before telling me the write speed is too slow.

Doesn't seem like a fair comparison. Much more interesting visuals with the people.

Plus, I think where the hack really comes into play is color correction. It won't fall apart on you nearly as fast as the unhacked footage will.

it wasn't really a comparison, just a bunch of crap i shot thrown together.. thats what I was hoping because the little bit i tried to color correct the footage of the people.. you could tell it was already starting to fall apart gonna do some more tests with the hack to see if thats true!
