First Test

The video wouldn't work for me, so I can't make any comments on that. While sticking with the auto features you'll get a decent image out of the camera, but the best way for you to learn is to play with the settings.

As far as learning how to use the camera, I'll give you this advice.
1) Buy Barry's Book. It'll get you up and running in no time. And is truly a great resource for someone, especially if just learning how to use the DVX.
2)Experiment, experiment, experiment. The best way to learn is by doing things hands on for yourself. Sure someone can tell you what everyting does, but by seeing it for yourself you'll understand.
3)Read all the threads you can, use the search feature, etc. This place is a great resource for learning.

I'm pretty much a noob myself, but I did notice that in the shot of the ducks swimming the auto iris is changing the exposure as they go through shady and sunny spots. I think it would look better if you could just pick one exposure for the whole shot. Just my opinion, of course.

Yes, I bet you are right.

I've been reading the User Manual, Barry's Book and watching the DVD all week. I'll try some manual features the next time I do a test. We'll see how it goes.

Thanks for the feedback.

Thanks!

With so much to learn, I wonder if taking a photography course would be worthwhile. I've never used a "real" camera before. I suspect that bassline of knowledge would be vital.

Otherwise, how does person know if the shot is good?

Jeff
