first test - f35 grabs

Re: first test - f35 grabs

56mb file? Ouch! Any chance you can squeeze it down to something we can download?

thanks!

Re: first test - f35 grabs

..it was pretty interesting but alot of it was really too low light to see claerly, and judge image sharpness and clarity.. it appears as though its coming along well though.

Re: first test - f35 grabs

It really just looks like filter with a lot of dust on it.
the opening shot has a hair on it or something, a diagonal line... it doesn't move with any kind of gate shutter. totally distracted me from the "film look" you were trying to acchieve.

the rest of the stuff looks allright.

Re: first test - f35 grabs

I actually thought some of this looked pretty good. Is this a static version or spinning/oscillating?...looks like the former in your mirror shots.

Can you post more information on the setup?

Re: first test - f35 grabs

Firre, it looks very promising! I can't wait to see your final F35 model. 50 something megs is alittle too big for some folks here. I would like to tell my friends about this but they can't view it cause their on dial up. No direct refrence to you PK, I still have many friends on dial up. Nice stuff firre, keep us posted. I also love your short you did by the way.

Re: first test - f35 grabs

wow. those look very film-like. 35mm really does make a difference.
i see this huge scratch in the middle.
but it has that rugged feel.

Re: first test - f35 grabs

I liked it a lot. FELT very film like. Can't really describe it very succiently, but it definetly makes a difference. Share some details about how you are going about making this.

Re: first test - f35 grabs

Yeah, what is this thing? It looked fairly small in the mirror shots, but it was hard to tell. Footage looked very nice.

Re: first test - f35 grabs

yes, i'd be very interested in learing how you did this. the footage looks very nice.

Re: first test - f35 grabs

Hey, what happened to firre?   >:(  Isn't that just like a Bronze Member? They get you all warmed up. ...And then walk-away. Leaving you cold and alone.  Do you think he's seeing another board?  I bet that bastard is cheating on us!!!

Re: first test - f35 grabs

Some of the earlier shots were really good. The clips on the ropes were well captured.
What do you mean by F35? Are you using a 35MM lens on the DVX?
What were your settings?

Re: first test - f35 grabs

Why do we get sooo many 'homemade mini35' stuff on this board by people who post and leave? I'm getting increasingly suspicious about all this... :-/

Re: first test - f35 grabs

Sorry for delay, I have a lot of work. Today i'll share with you some photos with description how do i make F35. My adapter need to be shorter[distance from 35mm lens to gg], because i can't focus in long distances.

I ordered an Satin Snow(TM) Ground Glass but it has more grain structure than my production gg[sandblasted by jewelery man].

Today i'll make gg with wax...

I'm waiting now for +10 close up hoya becaouse magnification is too small besides close up that i use now it's very chip and not so good. So picture have now many scratches...

here is some other test footage:
http://www.firre.com/last_works/move/f35test_medium.mov
http://www.firre.com/last_works/move/f35test_small_nosound.mov

you can download it in two versions, one of it is no sound :)

Re: first test - f35 grabs

nice. i'm excited to learn how you built your f35 adaptor.

Re: first test - f35 grabs

This stuff looks amazing. What's more is I can tell that unlike some other home made 35 mini's, there would be no sound issues if you were to shoot a story with it.

Only drawback I could see was the lack of focus you can achieve over greater distances and the grain of the glass on the footage (although in some way it adds an element to the footage IMHO).

I noticed in a previous clip that you were holding the lens a lot in the mirror shots. Was this to manually focus or was there a potential danger of the lens detaching from the camera?
