First Short

I just got the DVX100B a few days ago and been trying to muck around with it to get it looking decent. I've watched a bunch of other's clip and they are really amazing. However I haven't been able to achieve the same look yet.

Below are links to a short I did today. I used the standard scene settings on the DVX, using 24Pa and squeeze mode. I am doing all my editing in Vegas.

The music is just a quick something-something in Acid.

Any words of wisdom on what I am doing wrong or could do better would be greatly appreciated.

Alright, I'll go first...

First off, I don't think I'd consider this a "short". It's more on the lines of just a few clips thrown together, with no storytelling, plot, or anything to make it interesting. I watched it about half way through, skipped to the end, and didn't miss a thing. Then I watched the entire thing in fast forward, and it was actually MORE interesting than regular pace.

In other words, somthing needs to happen. i.e. - - Something is thrown through the window; the dude (you, I presume) suddenly falls off his chair unconscious, and we have no idea why; something; ANYTHING...

As for the color grading, it didn't look too bad. Too extreme on the greens, for sure, but it's all about trial and error.

On the plus side, it was good practice with your new camera, and I strongly encourage you to keep it up. You'll get better with the practice...

good luck, and post again
