First Short Film contest for the AF100 - win Sony Vegas!

We over at the NYC filmmaker's Festival and mediahalo.com believe that the best way to learn a piece of equipment is to go shoot with it. so that's why we've opened up the AF100 launch party short film contest!

It works just the same as a usual short film contest, with the main rules being:

Shoot a short film, up to 7 minutes in length, can be any genre any style, it's all your choice! (as long as it's narrative and vimeo doesn't reject it!)

Use only the Panasonic AF100 or the GH2, NO other cameras are accepted! You must list in your description which camera, which lenses, any filters, grading, or other manipulation you used to create the final piece. Submissions without this information will be exempt from consideration!

We are hosting the contest on Vimeo, over at the channel for the contest at:

http://vimeo.com/channels/agaf100

Be sure to subscribe to the channel and when your film is ready, upload to vimeo and send us your link to it so we can verify it and put it up on the gallery.

The point of this contest is to get everyone out and using their cameras in a constructive way. We all know that eager feeling to shoot something with a new camera, and it's far more satisfying to complete a short narrative then to just shoot some twigs and birds!

The deadline for submissions is The end of January, which we hope is enough time for panasonic to get all the cameras shipped out to the eager shooters. if the preorders go beyond then we just may do another contest!

So get out your scripts and let's see what you and the AF100 can do!

Yes, I know we MAC USERS are second class citizens but we are citizens all the same.

For the winner, how about a nice FCP plugin? For example...

Nattress Filters
Magic Bullet Looks
Genarts Sapphire 5
dvMatte Pro
etc.

LOL you actually aren't even the first ones to remark about that, the prize was actually from last year's Film Festival, a prize winner never claimed it, so that's how it became the prize for this contest. We may get some new prizes from additional sponsors for future contests(like the annual festival), but this particular contest is a lot more informal, so we didn't have a mac friendly prize to offer this time around, so, sorry Mac users, if you submit a film it would i suppose be for the fun of it! (though you could resell the software....)
