Used my camera for the first time today and have a few questions if any one can help me.

i cover soccer games here in scotland for my local club, due to time of year it gets darker as the game goes on. while they have floodlights that are on from the start i noticed a few times the colour went from the picture. (check links below)

I had everything set to auto as it was my first time in using, anything i can change.

Also i have the x1.6 zoom on and that makes the camera very heavy at the front, what would be the best tripod/head for this set up.

thanks for any help

Re: first shoot

I believe it's a white balance shift. The camera, when in auto, constantly seeks to identify what should be white and what should be black. Because the colors in the scene change what the camera interprets as white also changes taking the rest of the color spectrum with it. The best is to use a preset white balance or manually white balance at the location.

Re: first shoot

I agree with Shaw, you can see a drastic change in the yellow. :o

I think if you do a search in this forum you can find some good advice on tripod selection.

Good luck.
