First "Real" Test clip

This is my first Test clip attempt that I shot with the HVX200p using 720 24pa. The POST was done in Vegas 7.0.

I feel like something is missing, not with the shot angle it self but with the rendering and posting aspect. It doesn't look as clean (movie like) as all the other clips posted on this board. Is it just me or do some of you feel the same way? Any inputs will help. Thanks.

btw, DVXUSER.COM rocks!

The output movie looks like it was rendered in 640x480 interlaced 29.97. You should post 720 progressive 24p or 30p.
Did you try to color correct the shot? Focus seems a little off. The dynamic range seems a bit small i.e highlights to shadows. Color is way off. You need to model things more with lighting. Just off the top of my head.

Interesting, you're right about me rendering 640x480 interlaced 29.97. I didn't want a huge file so the rendering was compressed. When rendering while compressing the file, it does not allow me to render at 24p. Is there something I'm missing? That could possibly be one of the many problems with this clip.
I agree with your input regarding the lighting and focus. I was testing out angles and different shots.

Thanks for your input.

I'm not familiar with your NLE, but see if you can find an output setting of 23.98, and don't use a DV preset. DV output will always send it at 720x480 interlaced 29.97 whether it's wide screen or not. Also you can check de-interlace if you want. When you outputted, did you change the size from a DV/NTSC preset to 640 X 480?
