First Music Video - Please Critique

Hi Everyone,

I'm new to this community as of 3 minutes ago. I'm really a music guy, not a video guy, but I'm willing to learn a lot and pick many brains.

The link below is for the first music video i shot a year ago. 3 hours of shooting and 1 day of editing all within a $14 budget. I edited in FCP. The video was shot in an Auto paint booth, thus the washed out high contrast look I was after. I'm curious if any one can tell what model camera I shot with? Any overall suggestions?

Thanks so much:)

Jason

The slo mo was really distracting, as was the blown out performance part. The music was equally distracting and korny. Other than that it looked better than some of the **** that the emo dickheads do.

Thanks Slimothy,

I shot with a TRV-900, I'm looking to get a DVX or? The slomo parts were shot in double time and then slowed down in FCP at 50%. Again I don't really know what the hell I'm doing, but I lookin' for feedback.

Korny music pays the bills...

People hate emo here.

The blown out look is interesting but ultimately distracting. I like how it obscures the location, almost like a cyc studio, though.

you got paid for this?

Anyways, yah, the slomo was definately choppy

maybe find a way of not using slow-mo? It would be less distracting.

Also, this thread will be moved... in .... 5... 4... 3...

The slow mo didnt distract me, but the washed out look although cool, got old, needed a little change up. I didn't get the story line, if there was one with the other kid with the record but the footage was a nice change from the super nova whiteness. I think the worst thing about the video is the funny faces the lead singer makes, he needs to sit in front of the mirror and work on his mojo.

emo - short for "emotional." Emo is a broad title that covers a lot of different styles of emotionally-charged punk rock.

i guess that definition is close enough aye?

aye!
