First music video attempt...constructive feedback needed!

Hey guys

So this is my first attempt at a music video. I must point out this isnt something I plan to release or anything, simply an excercise to see what problems would crop up etc.

That being said, I would love to hear what you guys think about it. Any feedback you have on it, be it positive or negative (negative is what im really looking for) would be great. I want to know what I did wrong so I can improve.

Heres my list:

1. More angles of the same thing.

2. Check shutter speed when changing to 50fps! Got unusable blurry images, I kept a few in as a reference to not do it again!

3. More light! So easy to make things look grim and dark afterwards, but need much more light on the shoot.

4. More creative shots.

5. More group shots (Im unfortunately behind the drum kit for half of this, so had to rely on some1 else for those shots:embarasse This led to alot of problems really, as I had to rely on shooting members solo.

6. More 'close' shots + quicker cuts.

Fire away! :violent5:

This is your 1st attemp?

Man, it looks more like you've been doing this for a while now, congrats! It doesn't look like a "1st time music video".

I like the color correction and texture of the image.

You've got some really cool slowmo effects!

The shots where we see the wood of the roof: very cool! Could had used more of those.

My advice, go and do another one ASAP!!!! If this was your 1st one, I can't imagine how good the 2nd one is going to be! :-)

thanks! I suppose its not bad for a first attempt no...but I have big hopes for future efforts!

it was actually the very first time id used the hmc151 too, and im not very experienced with cameras as im currently in my first year at university studying moving image.

alot to learn :)

I liked the jittler affect and some of the slow mo morph.. very cool. Overall, your shots really play very nicely.. organically, but the thing that jumps out over and over is that your image is grossly underxposed and very very flat. You definitely need some real lighting work too get this to pop.. Without highlights and contrast everythign will have a drab desaturated look. Now that being said, you don't have to fill and flood the subjects but be creative with your highlights and shadows.. and remember to Rim light and kicker light this stuff. Do more stylized lighting and not just front fill and you'll be able to keep the low key quality but you'll have accent light to seperate the subjets and make it all pop. I tend to go quite heavy with the rim lighting on things like this..

thanks for the feedback! Couldnt agree more...

Now im just going to find out what rim and kicker lighting is :)
