Moving up from an HV30. Waiting for the battery to charge is the hardest part! The build quality is great and feels solid, controls are well placed, it is a bit bigger than the HV30 but very light for its size. The lens is nice and wide and has decent zoom as well, I love the controls on the handle! After shooting with it I realize how important it is to have easy access to all of the features with a balanced camera. I don't know if Scarlet will be this easy to manage. I love the "Wave form" and focus assist graph! I don't know how much of a difference it will make in compared to my eyes alone but it is a really neat and easy to use feature. I am still confused on loading and using "Scene files" this seems to be the most confusing to me for some reason so any advice on this would be great. The camera begs to be used in manual mode which I feel I will be using a lot more once I get the hang of all the controls. Low light is awesome and I limit my gain to 9 which produces a very clean image. A little confused on the Iris wheel and Iris control on the focus ring, the wheel is easy to use and a nice feature. I love the Panny colors, my first cam corder was a GS120 and I loved the colors it produced, its good to be back to those colors! that is very important to me. I'll write more as I learn more. Enjoying the HMC 150!!!

The Scene Files are just factory presets that will give you a “better look” under certain conditions...
Certain Lighting conditions.

Panasonic has just this week updated their Scene File PDF which you can download once you register your camera with them on their website.
If I could upload a pdf I would because it has some really good basic information on what the scene files do and how adjusting those can make your images look different.
I think that's one of the great things about this camera - not only do you get the manual controls you have over the hardware but the tweaks you can make to the images being written to the SD card via adjustments to the scene files.
I remember coming out of the box in scene file 1 I thought that my images were “grainy” but I made an adjustment to my Detail Coring and that was that.

You have to change it up under different lighting conditions and based on what look you want so it's really more about working with camera under what you'll normally shoot under and what looks you want to bring out.

Thanks, I do know what they are for I just am a little confused on loading more of them in the camera from the SD card, I saved some presets in text form from another thread and want to load them in the camera. They are the Panasonic ones like, Lush,Vivid...ect just confused on the steps of saving the ones in the camera and adding more.
