First error/glitch in recording - feedback?

just a brief second. I've put probably a couple hundred hours on the AF100 and the memory cards I have with no problems. However, in this one day of shooting, I had one card just poop out and say "Check Card". Can't get it to read now, even on the computer.

And then, reviewing footage from a different card from the camera, found this artifact. Haven't seen more yet, but got me worried. i've shot a ton of stuff and never had issues before. Why the sudden start? Could this be camera related or memory card related?

I had the same problem with a card not working and getting the "Check card" error. Card never worked again even tried recovery software, no dice.
I figured the card had done over a year of work so maybe it was at the end of its life. It was a Lexar professional class 10 card and had been great up until that point. I do use my card in many different cameras and the problem happened to me after using it in an fs700, then 5D and finally my af100 again. I always format it before use and it may not have been related to the muti cam usage but my gut says it was.

Thanks for the feedback, EndCredits!

To clarify: the card that said "Check Card" was a DIFFERENT card than the one where this error occurred. This is a screengrab from a card that is still working. The other card (which went bad about 2 hours before this) is done for, I think.

Stories like this completely justify my decision to dual record everything I shoot. (SD Card and Samurai..everytime.)

For sure! I wish the AF100 had a "redundant recording" option :/

Until then - does anyone here know if seeing something like this a fluke, or perhaps indicative of problems to come (particularly with the 2 memory card problems in a short stretch)?

Barry?

I'm not worried because this isn't a big deal for this PARTICULAR shoot but if it's indicative of problems I need to know!

That type of glitch usually shows up as a copy error among folks working on the Mac platform, and apparently most especially the MBP. In every case where I've seen that reported, and the person still had the footage on the memory card, asking them to play it from the camera has resulted in them saying "hey, it's fine now!" Because the footage on the camera, on the card, was always fine, and it got glitched during the process of copying it over. So, the only way to know for sure is to see if you still have the footage on the memory card and can play it from there...

Barry, you are a god among men.

Thanks. I borrowed a Macbook Pro for this shoot (I always just edit on PC), copied to the MBP, and then transferred back over to PC.

That was the problem
