Here is my finished Demo Reel for the first half of 2009. It was filmed with a mixture of stock HVX-200 and HVX-200 with Redrock M2 with Nikon lenses. Please let me know what you think or if you have any questions. Thanks!

I am not 100 on the shot of the singer opposite the etching light with a halo effect. Everything else is pretty good. I'd would want to see more context into the shot with 3 person "A" where there is one in the center, maybe its reverse or CU's.

Thanks for the critique. I agree, to an extent. I love the halo effect, but I think the sweat on his face is drawing away some attention. Not to mention, he shows up in the reel a total of 3 times...I didn't like that either, but am looking for a better shot to replace it now.

Thank you!!

Not bad at all. You are on the right track. Only shot I thought shouldn't be in their is the shot out the window driving. Shots like that are very amateurish.

Thank you! I wanted to keep that in there to show I can shoot time lapse, since I have the slow-motion of the water fountain. The "out the window" shot was taken on my ethanol documentary. Thanks for your feedback, very much appreciated.

Nice job.

Praise: My favorite shot is the bass player. Rich colorful sunset with great foreground fill.

Critique: The Lettuce Wraps shot. Don't overdo shallow depth just because you can. Over-baked DOF looks like an adapter or a Canon 5D MkII every time. Pull back whenever possible (i.e. light the place up and shoot around f/2.8 - f/8.0 on the lens). Camera-side, (i.e. built-in lens) keep to an f/4.0 - 5.6 for the sharpest results.

Keep up the good work.

Clark,

Thank you very much! I saw the greater DOF when shooting that scene and I was using my Nikon 55mm f/1.8, but was amazed at how the bokeh just engulfed the shot. I think it was due to the bright window in the background spilling light directly into the lens. Still looks kinda neat, but I definitely agree that it shouldn't be over-used.

Thanks again for your criique!
