First day with DVX

Just some shots from my first day with the DVX. I'm still coming to grips with it after using a DVC80 for a few months. Anyway, here they are

Let me know if the colors are outta wack. They look decent on my monitor but it is dying and is almost full bright. The trinitron model I bought a few years back has a problem with a resistor going out of range. I soldered a new one in but it's starting all over again :/ Any input on the shots is appreciated.

Re: First day with DVX

The colors come out great. I think maybe some CC would make it look a lot more like film, and maybe some contrast work would also help. But for a first day, that's not bad at all, that's very good, keep me posted with more grabs and even some footage if you get it.

Re: First day with DVX

Hey looks very good, especially the ET one,

What settings did you use on the camera, any extra stuff eg. Lenses, lights, Filters ?

It looks like it's straight out of a high budget movie!

Thanks,
Derrick

OMG !
You did a super job.

I reallllllllly like the fourth shot that you posted! (The one with the tree branches naked in the foreground and all that beautiful color from the leaves that stream forward outta the background).

Damn, I really love that shot. I downloaded it for my collection.

Damnit!

I can't get that Last shot (#4) outta my mind!

If you can remember, please post what setting you used to capture it in camera. And did you do anything to the image in post?

Re: First day with DVX

No post work and I believe I was using these settings.
detail level +5
master ped -5
gamma CinelikeD
matrix cinelike.
everything else was set on 0.
Not sure if this is the standard F6 setting or not due to buying the cam used. Hope those help. BTW, I wish I could see the colors for real. As stated above my monitor is borked and totally washed out. My 22" NEC should be here soon though. Then I'll be able to see my shots in all of their glory :)

Re: First day with DVX

Brilliant stuff seantree!

Why is it we get so many posts saying "here's my first grabs, etc. wth the DVX", and nearly EVERYTIME, the shots are stunning!

P.S. Does anyone else think that E.T. looks like he's on a podium?! (Ruunning for office maybe!) :D

Re: First day with DVX

I'd vote for my favorite extra terrestrial :) Anyway, I'm glad these shots got such praise. Hopefully I'll get the same response when I up some footage. thanks guys.
