First compatible generic HMC150 battery?

HMC150 batteries aren't cheap, and I've been waiting to see if any company would ever reverse-engineer Panasonic's new battery communication.

Today I found this "decoded battery" for sale on eBay that's supposed to be compatible. Has anyone tried this? I'm thinking about ordering one just to test it out.

This is the small Panasonic battery, which will barely give you one hour of shooting time. I bought two of the large Panasonic batteries, which while expensive, will provide you with 3.5 hours of shooting time. ( I use the Dolgin charger, which will charge both of the big batteries in less than 4 hours )

Oh I know it's the smaller battery. And I have one of the big VBG6PPK Panasonic batteries. But if it's truly decoded, then that means they can make higher capacity ones too. So maybe it's only a matter of (additional) time..

There is an official third party battery. Not cheap but cheaper that stock. Can't remember the name, but they are the only ones currently officially licenced.

This is new. Haven't seen it before.

Wow, only $94 and 7000mAh!! Anyone used the series 7 batt yet?
Apparently you need an adapter plate to use the battery. So maybe not si cheap then. Plate is in the kit.

Here is the IDX one released months ago. $129 and 5500mAh.

the IDX one works great, but it doesn't let you know exactly how many minutes are remaining. I chose to get the panasonic batteries instead.

As far as we know, IDX is the only working off brand battery for the "VWV" type batteries of the HMC family. There was an extender which piggybacked off the original Panasonic battery which was confirmed, unfortunately it's no longer available.

We're curious to hear from anyone who gets a chance to try out the eBay batteries. It's possible someone's cracked the chip by now, but a lot of scammers and junk peddlers are found on eBay... so... if you expect it not to work, and are pleasantly surprised, let us know. :D

Looking at the description, I suspect this may be mistakenly listed as compatible with the HMC150.

The HPX170 and HMC150 ("CGR" type and "VWV" type, respectively) batteries are not cross compatible. It would need two separate adapter plates, it looks like it only comes with one. The S7-PHPX adapter plate is for HPX170 "CGR" batteries. Likewise, the light says "the Series 7 XDL56P is an on camera light for the Series 7 and Panasonic CGR Series Batteries". Sorry!

I've been using the IDX for a while. Works fine, gives plenty of time. Charges fine with the Pany charger. The battery does have a 4-led charge-remaining which has seemed to be pretty accurate, so you do have some idea of time remaining.
