First Blackmagic 4K footage

I think it looks great, one extra stop of DR and it would be a killer. To me the pier sunset looks great except the blown out parts, i don't mind fluffy clouds blowing out so much in mid day like in the first shot, but its a shame if it doesn't do better in sunset, because I liked the color.

edit: Well, after looking at the second batch of shots I can tell this camera handles highlights very well, I really liked the results from shooting straight into the bright sun, on the cliff, yes it goes all white, but the roll off seems very good and colors are just awesome, dynamic range also seemed to be fine for most situations of landscape/cityscape. I'm just really glad this quality is trickling down to the level where I can go and pick it up...

Footage looks great. For some of the shots, they could've been exposed a little lower on the spectrum so folks talking about DR being poor, it's not…just could've used some better care in exposing. It has 12 stops which is a pretty big range. I've seen the 4K files and they look wonderful. I can't believe the cameras coming out now…sheesh. It wasn't too long ago I was drooling over the XLH1 and other HDV cameras.

Well, of course, well the digital "protect your highlights" still seems to be something you can't forget, but I judge a camera based on several things, how much I can compensate and "underexpose to protect highlights" and what is the result if I expose "correctly" (or "how I want the image to feel" i.e. bright).
