Context: a family has gotten deeply into debt and decides to get out. They bond by slicing, dicing and otherwise eliminating their credit cards. Inspired by radio host Dave Ramsey. The explosion scene is green screened.

We were outside on a slightly overcast day, so no lighting or reflectors needed. I put the green cloth on the side of a large van which we had moved to an area with strong (diffused) light and no shadows. I had people on each side pull the cloth to remove the wrinkles, had the guys hunker down in front and push the plunger. The explosion is stock footage of a car blowing up. The guys obscure the view of the car.

Trying to use outdoor light to greenscreen is usually going to be problematic, because even on an overcast day, the light is constantly changing. A really good key needs even, consistent light on the greenscreen. The brightness of the light will be rising and falling as the clouds pass over.
