first attempt at a music video

eheehhe it's very simple but it works great!!!
The light is natural bt also it works great. becos all the final product has a sort of stylistic coherence!

Personally, it held my attention. I kept the volume WAY down, as I'm still in my office & didn't want the chance of any particular language being heard around here, so I can't really comment on the music at this time.

I was going to say you should make the video more visually interesting with some CC punch, etc. but you mixed it up well enough with some other sections that used a velocity/warp well and some other interesting shots.

Loved the brown bag approach ... can't recall seeing that before. Funny stuff. Overall, kept my attention & found it interesting, visually.

I thought it was great. It was refreshing to see something like this after watching a lot of the same style music videos with bands playing in warehouses and rooftops etc. over and over. Editing was very good and definitely kept my interest peaked. Look forward to seeing some more stuff of yours.

I really really really liked this. Like thought it was so cool. As I always say, the biggest compliment to an artist in here is that when you watch his stuff, you never once think of the DVX. And that's what happened. I was totally focused on the video. Good tune. Great idea. Congratulations!

AMAZING!!!!!!!!!!!! ONE OF THE MOST CREATIVE VIDEOS ON THIS BOARD EVER! AWESOME! Lighting was not good but everything looked way better when you put on some film like filter. What filter was it? Great job!

Awesome video. The minute I saw the bags on their heads I was hooked. Great job with the editing, I especially liked the parts you made to look like it was shot on Super 16.

That was hilarious, I love the paper bags!
Really nice job for your first music vdeo. Visually the chorus looked different from the verses so the viewer never gets lost - lots of people miss that their first time around.
The shot with the newspaper at the beginning was great!

Only two things I think I would change:
- I don't think you need the "somewhere in the midwest" at the beginning. The shot is nice but the words kind of take distract me and make start trying to think where...
- The part that goes completely black - I think it's a bit too long, I suddenly find myself back in reality. I realize the pause in the music is that long so maybe a freeze frame would work better...

How did you do the 16mm effect?

Awesome job!

I dug it. What did you use for the vidual effects (the remapping and old film effect)? Thanks for posting this. Again, I enjoyed it quite a bit.

this made me laugh. and while it was a pretty simple video, anytime there is laughter there is creativity involved

Fandango rejects meets music video...

The video is Hillarious. Excellent work on the editing too! Super clean!

love this video. screw the technical flaws. i wouldn't change a thing. the less than ideal lighting gave it the perfect DIY look which fits the brown paper bag thing perfectly. if it were done "right" i think it would lose something. bravo!!

Agree with cheez.

You asked how you did ... I'd say that EVERY post here has been positive, which is rare with when someone posts a Music Video thread.

I'm not really into that kind of ?music? (I'm probably too old) but I watched your video 5 times. Super job.

Wow, I feel a lot better about this video now. I had stared at it for so long that hated it. My eyes still haven’t refreshed to the point yet that I can watch it.

I actually did the film look effect in After Effects. I did the original edit in FCP then I brought it in to After Effects to do some masking and rotoscoping. On the chorus like parts I made an adjustment layer in my comp and piled MisFire: post contrast, flicker, gate weave, vignette, and splotches then added a gaussian blur.

I was apprehensive about posting this, usually I stay away forums. But these posts have been really encouraging. thanks
