first 5D vid with new firmware

I finally broke and got a 5D mk2 once the fw was released. Oh god so beautiful. It's like heaven after shooting with D90 so much. Cineformed then slowed to 24p timeline in Vegas. :beer:

June 9 update:

Here's my test vid for using the audio inputs straight from a powered XLR mic (Sennheiser me66) I see now how annoying that automatic gain control really is. (Go Go Hudson hack!) Otherwise it is pretty usable just not perfect.

did you add some noise or is it just a high ISO? I like it "filmic". Sold my D90 and almost convinced about picking up one of these this week.
 
I like what you did there. I'm assuming you graded it? It has an ominous post apocalyptic feeling.

I actually added the film grain in post to simulate 35mm. The original is clean as a whistle, shot at ISO100

Thanks, I just used the NeoScene trial to convert to cineform but I didn't convert to 24p using that product, I left it 30p and just dropped it into a 24p timeline in the editor and re-timed the clips to .8 so it's just treated like overcranked footage

Ahh cool.

The MKII really needs the grain to counter the sharpness but it was really subtle and had me thinking that you hadn't added any grain in post. Everything else I've seen from the MKII is really clean which I'm not into.

Just do it already. It's about time! Based on what you've posted in the GH1 forums, I think that you've made up your mind. You need to just admit to yourself.

So you can actually point this camera at the sun and it won't screw anything up? I thought direct sun was very, very bad? Or is that only with camcorders?

Great! looking forward to seeing what you shoot with it. I am shooting a couple of little silly monologues to test out the audio inputs. I'll post them in this thread when I'm done.

are you using a custom curve or a standard setting?

now all we need is 24p
