Hey everyone.

This is the first 10 minutes or so (11:11 actually) of our comedy feature "Bad Service".

I shot this 2 years ago, entered into many festivals, got into none :(

Anyway...DVX100a, shot whenever we could get the people together. Took like 2 years to finally finish it.

Let me know what you think.

It was really fun to make this movie...a REAL LEARNING EXPERIENCE!!

No. It was a little too expensive for us right now. The film cost us less than $1000.00 total.

We are putting up the movie on Myspace in 10 minute episodes...then sell the DVD to anyone who wants one with behind the scenes stuff, storyboards, war stories, etc.

I like to think of the whole thing as our "film school". We learned so much just making the thing.

Best thing I learned is that I don't care what kind of hurry the directors are in, I'm going to take my time to LIGHT the thing next time :)

Thanks.

the sound's soo professional, what find of mics did you guys use?

Edit: The more I watch this, the more I think you dubbed everything. It almost sounds too clean.

Final edit: YES it was definitely dubbed over, when some people talk the background sound doesn't match where they are. but what was the mic anyways?

The whole movie was ADR'd. Tried my hardest to match lips...very hard to make it perfect. I tried.

About the environment...I was going to go in and (with reverb or Impulses) and match where they are supposed to be. I just got really burnt out after being the solo editor, fx, audio guy. I plan on fixing that eventually. But, for the web, I think it's okay.

We used the Audio Technica AT8035.

I used a small room with lots of blankets up, some foam...and recorded directly into a laptop with Sony Vegas 6 (have version 8 now) and an M-Audio Mobile Pre box.

Thanks for the comment.

Would you recommend that mic for outdoor stuff? It seems relatively affordable, I might be interested in one.

I am no expert on that. I did some research when we were starting to film, and it sounded like a good deal. I got it for around 250.00 or so.

We had tried to boom everything at first, with a homemade boompole, but we shot alot in businesses that were open to the public and there was alot of noise.

That's why we dubbed everything later.

I loved the mic though. With the foam cover it comes with and the lowpass switch, it really gave a nice sound outdoors. With wind, you might need a zeppelin or windsock thingy (dead cat?).

You really need to get that thing up close though. But that's normal I think.

Really clean sounding mic for the money.
