Reminder, the deadline for Sony accepting suggestions for v1.4 firmware is fast approaching. Send serious suggestions to Production(at)am.sony.com

List them here when you send them. Version 1.3 to be released next month.

Ability to make "menu-jog dial" survive power off.
Viewfinder information on HDMI output while simultaneously leaving SDI outputs clean.
Oh - and 50MB/s option on internal SxS cards! :cheesy:

-Selection to have peaking/zebra on HDMI or SDI out.

-Simultaneous HD-SDI and HDMI out with, or without LUT (with S-Log enabled)

Will send these to the email, of course.

Not sure if this is currently possible, but with consideration to the Abel Cine Pro Viewfinder kit, I'd like the HD-Y signal to be always live, at 59.94i, even when recording & output is at 24psf.

In addition to some of the above, my list included:

Toggle jog wheel between menu/jog, shutter and S&Q, with memory after power cycle
Waveform Monitor in addition to Histogram

50 MB/s is not going to be possible since that is hardware

50Mbps may not be possible, however when at 60/720p the 35Mbps is not fixed. It can go a bit above, say 40Mbps.

At the same time 24fps is 20% less data than 30fps and 4.2.2 is only an 18% increase in data over 4.2.0.

Theoretically we should be able to get 24/1080p 4.2.2 at 40Mbps on the existing hardware without stretching any capability or stability. I'd jump on 24/1080p 4.2.2 at 40Mbps in a heartbeat.

I wouldn't hold your breath about any changes to internal recording format on this camera. But Sony has heard the message and I wouldn't be surprised if we see it in a successor model.

I don't think its likely, but I do think it is possible. If it were a $1,000 firmware upgrade I'd do it.

Too bad we can't get the magic lantern guys to look at this. They've done some amazing things and we have a couple of firmware upgrades to examine. (That's what they needed to start on the DSLRs.) I can dream, can't I? LOL

ML has its risks. If I brick an inexpensive dslr...

The very smart thing that Magic Lantern did was to only modify the firmware to look on the card to see other firmware. If it doesn't see other firmware it runs normally. The chances of bricking it are extremely low, but all things have a risk. Every Sony firmware upgrade has a risk.
