Firmware upgrade Failure

I tried to upgrade my F3's firmware over SxS adapter(SDHC). While upgrading, after 3 minutes the camera went totally black. The On/Off switch shows green but i had to cut the power off to turn the camera off. Now it don't switch on:( I remember someone was asking for this around here, but couldn't find the tread. I guess i need to contact with the Prime support line.

I was planning to have a nice test shoot this weekend:((

Anyone had this issue?

Thanks

if I remember correctly, you were supposed to be a little more patient when it went black. it was part of the process. you were not supposed to turn the camera off until it prompted you to do so. might have to send it back to get worked on.

While on progress, yes the screen is black but it says "upgrading 000XX seconds remaining" but suddenly everything went off, i thought the same and waited for few minutes, after nothing happened i just cut the power off:((

Try letting sit in for more than just a few minutes after the screen goes black, it shodl work. I think the firmware update can take 15 or 20 minutes to complete. At least, I hope it is not bricked...

Yea I think the tally was blinking during the blackout period so I knew something was still happening. I dunno...I left and when I came back it was done.
Hope it works out for you....

SHAME ON ME!!! Whatever i tried, didn't worked. I switched the SxS cards, put it on the AC adapter etc. I give it a last try and put back the SxS adapter where the update is, left it for 5 minutes and the upgrading screen came back:) and the upgrade is done ,now:)) I can't believe how inpatient i'm..Cheers guys. So the test weekend must go on:)

I timed it and the total upgrade process took me 24 minutes. There was at least one totally black period, but in the back of my mind I'm thinking there was also a shorter one later one when I wasn't paying much attention.

The instructions also say to use an SxS card for the upgrade. That may be an issue if the upgrade affects the USB driver for the adapter card. I have sympathy for your plight, but I always wanted to say this... RTFM.

If it was me I'd copy the files onto an SxS card, put it in and let it run. Good luck. (Sorry about the teasing. Couldn't resist.)

EDIT: You posted while I was typing. GREAT!

oh man! awesome that it worked out in the end. I bet that was a little tense. have fun shooting!

that was not tense, that was nightmare mate:) But i have little confusion, i checked abelcine's site about the firmware update, on the video set menu of the camera where says "SDI/HDMI/i.Link I/O select " it should have an option of " HD SDI & HDMI " but i still have just HD SDI only. I checked the rest, it is working fine, for example i can dial the menu with S&Q dial button so the upgrade is done properly . Am i missin smthng?

Sorry guys i guess i need to go bed early today, i just realised my Dual link & Gamma select was on :(( so of course the HDMI selection didn't come up..

Its a good idea to read the instructions before trying anything as radical as upgrading software. It was pretty clear that the screen would go black and how many minutes it would take. It is kind of nerve racking even when you know that's what's happening though.
