Firmware updates you would like to see for the A7S series

I suspect we won't see an A7S III for awhile since Sony have been talking about 'giving it a rest' for a bit and concentrating on firmware updates.

This leads me to ask, what firmware updates would you guys like to see? What ones are possible/realistic?

I'm not sure how possible this is, but internal 422 instead of 420 would be nice. I like as much control over grading as possible and I feel like that would be great. I'd be happy to pay for a firmware update like that. 10 bit i'm not that fussed by, but 422 could be awesome.

Thoughts?

I'd like to be able to access the full menu via wi-fi from my phone. The Play Memories app Sony has is a joke.

While improved, I'd like them to work on skin-tone colors. Right now, there's not a single preset or setting I'm happy with that doesn't need work for me to get good skin tones. They all look like an ugly blend of green/magenta to me. I can solve the problem with LUTs but they should work on that.

I would love 10 bit 422 but I don't see that happening at this price point.

For my birthday I want a full-frame FS7 in a FS5 body for $399.00. LOL.

Who said I was paying for it? The low price is a gift to my friends' wallets. (although I would gladly pay at that price).

Another thing--I wish Sony would enable their lens adapters like the LA-EA4 to shoot AF with manual shutter speeds and apertures. Right now I'm stuck at f3.5. Also, expand the focus points area. Even on "wide" it's pretty much only the middle area in full-frame mode.

Being able to do a manual WB in Video Mode directly and it actually working if you are using Slog.

Alternately, since I find the continuous AWB to be surprisingly good (at least on the a6300, I guess it's the same on the A7 series), I would love to be able to assign "AWB Lock" to a key just like "AEL" for instance. That way in run and gun situations you could let the AWB do it's thing and lock it when you don't want the WB to shift during a take. Much easier than going to the menu, finding a white/grey card, taking a shot, etc...

It would be nice if the camera displayed what the AWB was currently set at, e.g. if it displayed 2800K, M+2 . If I don't have a grey card, I have to guess at the color temp by switching back and forth from AWB to Kelvin 2-3 times.

200mbit. Wouldn't that be overkill? Forgive me, i'm ignorant about these things, what would the benefits of more 200mbit be?

less compression/macroblocks on the video. 1080p is 50 mbit which is not bad, codec does ok. 4K is 4x size, so I'd like at least the same compression ratio for 4K which is 200mbit.

This is the list I wrote when I got my original a7S. Most of this stuff has still not been solved.

* Custom WB should work under slog2.* Custom modes M1-M2-M3-M4 are stored in the card, and they are lost if you format the card in-camera, which is obviously a problem. If ML sorted this out, Sony certainly could do it too.
* Custom modes M1-M2-M3-M4 should remember the crop mode selected. I want to set them to 24p-FF-1/50s, 60p-FF-1/100s, 60p-APSC-1/100s, 120p-APSC-1/200s.
* More options for Zebras: 65%, 60%, 55%, etc. Also, divide this in two functions: zebras on/off (which I want to assign to some of the C buttons), and zebra settings (which I'll put on the Fn menu).
* The record button is ackward (though not completely unbearable, at least to me), please allow me to assign "start/stop video recording" to c1.
* My 5N has a setting that takes all the uneven ISO values out of the settings list, so it is faster to change if you're only going to use 100-200-400-etc. I haven't found it on the a7s, if it's not there, it should be.
* Also, allowing me to go to a grey ISO that can't be selected, just to show an error message afterwards, is slow and inefficient; just stop moving up if the next ISO value can't be selected, or skip them and go to the next "white" one.
* Crop mode should be an option in the function menu.

I also like some of the suggestions here, particularly the AWB thing (though I wouldn't even assign it to a button: I'd just want a setting for "AWB that does never change within a take", so, whatever value it has when you hit record, it won't change until you stop recording).

So AWB is pretty good on this camera then?

Except for the fact that it can change in the middle of a shot, which makes it absolutely unusable XD

If it wasn't for that: it's better than I am when I have to shoot run-and-gun (i.e. it's always either perfect or pretty close, whereas I sometimes forget to adjust or don't have the time to do it, and always end up with a few nasty shots; in this kind of situations).
