Firmware update

[benn]

I have a question. As I understand Sony will update the next firmware only for a fee of 500$ (?).
Does that mean, what ever still will come in the future as firmware-update, we have to go the way through this update and pay the price?
Or is it only for the 4K option and the other FS700 owner can participate in the technical progress of following updates?
Thanks
Benn

No one knows. But I doubt there will be any further upgrades and if so you will have to get 3.0.1 first for sure. Although there is no official statement about the future of FS700 Sony doesn't seem likely to invest much more resources on it.

Why do you think so? Only 4K update need special technician work in Sony Service Centers.. so Sony charge $400 ONLY FOR SERVICE .., NOT for update itself ...

..and now they have FS700R for sale, which do NOT heed "4K update" at all...
