firmware update?

How do I know what firmware is currently on the camera and what is the latest?

It's at the last page of the menu. I believe (correct me someone if I'm wrong) that it's 9.34

Yea . go to the menu and jog-wheel until you get to the
last item which is called "Diagnostic"

In the upper-left part of the screen, you'll see "VERSION"
and directly under that you'll see the version number of
the firmware.

and be sure to print out the installation procedure PDF, since the instructions are complicated. You need an SD card (formatted in the 300.) 9.34-00-0.00 is in fact the latest firmware.
