Are you serious?
i just dropped $1,700 on this 2 weeks ago, and they are making purchase the upgrade???
So far I am not impressed...

Also, I thought that you can select Quicktime as a record format when shooting DVCPROHD on the FS-100.
When that is selected, the only choices i have are P2 and Raw..
When I am in DV that is where i have my choies to choose from, but i don't see MXF

What's the deal???

The v3.0 upgrade allows you to shoot DVCPROHD Quicktime files and they can be imported directly into FCP. And I agree, if you just bought the FS100 2 weeks ago, Focus Enhancements would be wise, from a customer service perspective, to give you the update free of charge. But that is just my opinion.

If you don't want the upgrade capabilities for $39.00, then stick with v.2.0.3.

There has to be a cut off at some point, which is Feb 1 in this case.

The development of v.3.0 has been known for months here and elsewhere, and its release has been imminent for a couple of weeks.

And the price is $39.00. We all have to be a little vigilant.

:-)

Focus is not making you purchase the upgrade. If you do not want or need the functionality it provides, don't buy it. It is like your client asking you for a revision of a particular job and you put hours of work into a substantial revision of the project. I would presume you would expect to be paid. R&D costs money. The nature of the industry is that manufacturers add functionality, make revisions, extend the abilities of a device or a software application. If you don't need what the upgrade provides, don't buy it.
