firewire stopped working (not on my dvx but deck)

the firewire on the camera i use for caputring footage (sony tr-17) just stopped working. The firewire port looks okay, i dont see any damage and the camera wasnt drop at all, at least that i know of. Has this happened to anyone else's camera? anyone have any idea about cost of fixing something like this? all i use this camera for is caputring but i dont have money for a deck. any help or suggestions would be great. thanks in advance.

no but i have hooked it up to my DVX and it works, so that tells me its the camera.

wait, actually i did try a different cable, haha so that really answer that
