firewire problem

hi again.I have a small problem.I installed MC 2.7 on my laptop (and yes its licensed).I have some old family tapes that i want to edit a little on avid.But my camcorder for capturing these old tapes is a Sony DCR-TRV125E.I plugged it in the firewire socket but i couldnt add it as a deck , avid would just not see it.I did everything to try n set it , when i try to add it as a deck i see the options for sony but i couldnt see the model of my camcorder.What would you suggest me to do.Is it because my camcorder is just to old? or could it be something else ? thanks...

You can try adding it as a Generic DV device and see if that works.

Open the Deck Configuration settings window and add a new deck. Select Device: Generic --> DVBasicDevice-NTSC and give it a try

Or DCR-TRV120E might work too. Try a few different models within Sony.
