Firewire input broken need help!

The actual input for dv firewire on my Panasonic DVX100B is broken. The computer doesn't even register that the camcorder is plugged in and I am unable to log and capture. I have tried other firewire cords and the same cords with different camcorders and my firewire input is definitely the problem. I haven't dropped it or anything and there is no visible damage. Is there somewhere I can send to get it fixed? How much would that cost? Any other suggestions or ideas? I live in New York City so if you know any places nearby it would be greatly appreciated.

It's been well documented in the forum that the camera's firewire board can be fried when the firewire cable is connected while the camera is on.

It sounds like you need to go buy a cheap mini dv camera and use that to upload your footage

As Gary stated make sure that the camera is off before you plug in your Firewire. And if I am not mistaken, Barry Green mentioned in the forms somewhere that most ports fry when you have a 6 to 4 pin connection. I think the best cords to get is a 4 to 4 pin (again double check on that)
