Firewire HDD for HVX200

Hi.

I bought a Firewire Enclosure to dump the shooted files on location. You know, so I don't have to carry a laptop around to empty the P2 cards. (not to record directly, mind you).

The problem is that the camera doesn't recognise the enclosure as a drive. SO my guess is that the camera needs a particular kind of firewire portable Hard Drives to work.

Can anyone help me here? Recomend me an aforable brand of Firewire HDD that the HVX recognises so I can copy the P2 content directly from the camera (without using any other equipment, like a laptop)?

Thank you.

Your drive needs its own power supply. The HVX will recognize any powered firewire drive. Make sure you set your PC MODE to "1394 Host" and that you're going into PC/DUB mode.

Make sure that the enclosure supports the SBP2 protocol. If it does and has its own power source, then the steps mentioned by Barry should allow you to see/format/offload to the drive.
