Firewire cable repeaters

Has anybody tried connecting the HVX200 to a computer with a firewire repeater? They are supposed to extend the 15ft. per cable limit by repeating the signal. Has anyone experienced dropouts or loss of signal using these?

Eman, Just from what Ive heard and use. You can actually go 30ft with a firewire cable before you need a repeater. I use this option with DVrack (and the DVX) and I believe Barry does as well. If you go any further than 30ft you will need a repeater and on that I am not sure how the repeater works (even if it does).

15 foot rule is for power requirements. For 4 pin you can go 75 ft. before a repeater is necessary. Laird has these spefically for the video market.

I wish more cams would use a 6pin connector. I'd feel safer doing "tethered" work that way.
