Firewire Audio Problem

Yesterday, I shot a feature at a major event, and as I am now editing it, I have discovered that the audio from my street interviews is messed up. I record to a firestore hard drive, so all footage is transferred over a firewire cord. What's happening is that every 30 seconds or so, the audio will just cut out for about 7 seconds. I know for a fact that it isn't my mic or XLR cord, because the headphone jack output on my DVX gave me a consistent audio output as I was filming. To my advantage, we had a second camera on the side filming, so I do have backup audio, except it is from the built-in mic on the GL2 we have. I tested some recording today by using a different firewire cable, and the problem is still occurring. I then tested a live capture to FCP from my DVX, and the audio is still jumping.

Now, I am assuming that it is the firewire port on the camera, but is there any other possible problems? It isn't the XLR ports, because I was using the built in mic as I tested. I can't afford the $800 to fix it. My camera heads are dirty, so tape recording is not an option. Any other ideas?
