Firestore vs. P2 Card

Hey everyone,

Just wondering if the firestore drives and the P2 cards are essentially the same once the information is on the storage device.

IE - If I set the HVX to record 720p24 will my computer and NLE view the P2 card and the Firestore the same way? Same folder structure and whatnot?

no. the firestore is a bit different. and there is a step or two between shooting and final transfer. but its still just a matter of drag and drop the contents to your hard drive. so its really no matter.

That's rite after shooting to a Fire Store you must select the option "organize P2" in the utilities menu of the fire store. After this option is selected and the Fire Store finished processing, the file structure on the fire store is similar to that of a P2 card. You will be able to ingest it the same way or back up using P2CMS the same way. If ingesting to FCP you may prefer to shoot directly to QT files on the fire store no "organizing" options needed then (pending firmware version).
Not sure if it would help and I don't want to seam presumptuous or any thing. But thought it'd be nice to attach a document I wrote about using the Fire Store with the HVX. It's really basic and very simple to read it was for people who didn't know much about the operations of the camera so it's written in a point form how do I format using laymen terms. But it does describe how to use the Fire Store clearly... i hope.
