well, I emailed focus and I recieved this answer. I couldnt try it yet.
Hello~
Try performing the steps below
1) FACTORY RESET
a. With the Firestore powered OFF.
b. REMOVE the “battery” and connect the “AC Adaptor”.
c. Press and HOLD down the "ON” and “OFF” buttons for 15' seconds, then release just the “ON” Button.
d. Count to five (5) then release the “OFF” button.
e. The Firestore should be powering back up to the home screen

2) FIRESTORE
1) Now mount the firstore, then open it.
2) Go back to the update window.
3) Drag and Drop ONLY the " .bin " file over to any OPEN area at the bottom of the mounted firestore window.
4) Wait for the transfer to complete.
5) Now CLOSE the firestore window.(wait about 5' seconds)
6) Dismount the firestore.
7) Scroll RIGHT to the UTILITIES menu.
8) Scroll DOWN to UPGRADE.
9) Press the RIGHT arrow key. (A message asking you to upgrade will appear.)
10) Press YES.
11) Wait for the UPDATE or UPGRADE to complete.
12) Once the UPDATE or UPGRADE has completed, you will be asked to power the unit OFF (Reboot).
13) Power the unit OFF and back ON.
14) Scroll to the SETUP menu.
15) The upgrade or update should have the NEW UPDATE OR UPGRADE showing.
16) DONE!

I tried the factory reset described above. It did not work. I have three FS-100's. The two that I updated to v 3.0.0 myself worked. The third one that I get the WRONG PRODUCT ID message is my newest one that came with v 3.0.0.
Sounds like they goofed. I have also emailed but have not received a response from them yet.

Their ears must have been burning. Just received a response. They asked for the factory image number of my unit, which is found by going to the setup menu then down to version number, then pressing the right arrow to get the full version.
Mine is: 3.0.0.04011507

I received another quick response from them. They sent an updated .bin file that worked. I'm not certain if they will be deploying a mass update or not, but if you are experiencing the problem, just factory reset your unit (which will restore back to the original version shipped) and send them your version number and they will send the updated file. They were really fast (10 minutes) from the time I sent the version to the time I received the updated file. Hope this helps.

j'ai updater mon fs 100 de v 3 à la version 4 depuis un mac.
j'ai eu un drôle de problème.
si je copiais le fs-100.bin sur le fs 100 depuis un systeme 10.3.8 ou 10.3.9 il était impossible d'updater.
si je copiais le fs-100.bin dans le fs-100 depuis un systeme 10.4.8, l'update s'est fait sans problème ????
très curieux non ? mais maintenent ca marche très bien.

Just upgraded on a new FS100 v.3.0 and had no problems. 24pn and VFR here I come!
