Firestore Price...?

I'm terribly sorry if this has been covered, but I couldn't seem to find it below. Has Focus released a price for the Firestore that will be compatible with the HVX?

They've only said that it would be "under $2,000". We have no idea how far under $2,000... I believe Rush at EVS speculated that it may have a "street price" of $1400, but I may also be putting words in his mouth...

No. But you can stream through the firewire port to a laptop or desktop computer, and have the external drive hooked up to that.

You can also copy the P2 cards from the camera straight to an external firewire drive (but not to a USB2 drive).

I just did a small calculation from projected list to interpolate a street price, based on a standard dealer discount. Who knows, though it may be a higher list or not that high a discount. It's nice to hope though! :)

If you recorded onto P2 cards you could dump your footage onto those drives.

But to record straight to a Hard drive you need to use an "intelligent" device like the Firestore, or simply go out to a laptop or desktop computer.

You'd need to supply a power source, as Can Scanner mentioned. The HVX has a 4-pin firewire connector and cannot provide power to a drive.
