Firestore concerns

I've just booked a 100GB Firestore for use on my next shoot along with my HVX, my concern is I've never used one before, I know some people say they are great and others say they have had multiple problems.

Is there anything I should be aware of? Any precautions I can take to ensure I don't lose any footage in the process? I've heard there can be problems with the cable coming lose and losing the connection.

I'm also looking for any kind mounting solution for it, my shoot is in 2 weeks.

I know that some guys loop the fire wire cable around the camera handle to strain relief the cable on the camera side. On the Firestore side, I would suggest doing something similar. I don't know what kind of shooting you are doing but there are multiple mounting options. The Jimmy Box is a decent one. You can also mount it on your belt or you can mount it creatively on the tripod and strain relief it there. Let me know how it works out for you.
