Firestore breaking up long takes. Does FCP re-link ?

Hi all. I am aware that the firestore breaks long takes into something like 2GB files. When importing these into final cut (5.1.2) does final cut automatically rejoin these files into the original length of the shot ?

or do you have to do this manually in the edit ?

FCP 5.1.2 spans the 2gb segments. But even in FCP 5.1.1 where the segments did not span, it was absolutely seemless.
