Firestore 100 - problem? We can not work it!

We simply can not get our Firestore to work.

It should not be this difficult and we are beginning to think we have a faulty unit.

It is updated to latest firmware. No prob there but we just can not find the correct settings to make it play nicely or at all with the HVX202. Following the manual just does not work for us and we have tried everything conceivable . Must be missing something.

I can not wait to rid myself of this diabolical piece of kit but has anyone else found the magic bullet .

I was thinking about buying this piece of gear to go with the HVX200, so I am waiting with you to hear any responses.

What settings are you using? What problems are you having? I used mine extensively and aside from dropping one clip out of 100 or so, I had no problems.

It will be good to know what are your problems ? I have had no trouble whatsoever with this nice piece of equipment (FS-100) maybe we can help if you describe what is going on .

I haven't had any problems with my FS100 either... but I have been having too much fun with the time lapse recording function. =-)

I do wish they had put a Firewire 800 port on this thing though, or perhaps even an eSATA... it takes quite awhile to offload many gigs of data via 400mbps.

These type of posts are so frustrating.

How can anybody assist without a detailed workflow/settings?

As they say, we can't see your set up from here.

Basically we can not get the camera to record 'Tapeless' to the device in any record format at all. We have followed the manual which makes it look so simple especially for the HVX202. It even has pictures to follow the connections and a list of the process. We followed that religiously.

BTW: I was led to believe that 720pn was also an option with the firmware upgrade. It definitely shows up in the FS100 menu since the upgrade.

We know the cable is not faulty and we also know that it is easy to be connected to the wrong FW on top of the device. 'Camera ' connection is well marked as is 'Computer'

Do you have a PAL version of the FS-100? There is one model for NTSC, and one for PAL.

I agree. "I cant make it work, I've read the manual" doesn't really help much.
You know what else they say..........When all else fails "Turn it on".

Thanx for your brilliant "turn it on" insight. Most helpful. (NOT)

The point was that someone correctly asked what steps we had taken and I replied that I followed every step in the manual. What did you want .... a blow by blow spelled out for you when it is already written in the manual.

Panasonic in NZ agree that it should not be so hard to make it work and they are going to take a look at it.

Faults happen and this piece of kit has a bit of a "reputation".

Would I would find helpful is listing the setting for each screen in the FS-100 and the choices in the HVX200.

If you want some feedback, then take the time to LIST EXACTLY what those screens say.

Then we can respond.

Also, which manual and which firmware?
