FIREHEAD (man on fire clip)

Not believable at all. Looks like fake fire...Yep, definitely fake. Might be worth checking out artbeats to get some actual fire footage to composite.

Hey guys, this is my first post here. I have been making digital movies with mini DV for the past 4 years now but never owned or used a professional line camera. After reviewing the wonderful comparison available this website between the DVX, the XL2 and the FX1 I have concluded that the DVX is perfect for my needs; I may venture into the HD realm and the glorious looking HVX in a few years but for now I can only afford and really only need SD quality. Anyways.

I know of a pretty good site that has free clips of explosions, fire and all that jazz plus most of it is free. Check it out.

Naaaa thats not believable at all! For starters the fire is on not on the head at the very begining. 2nd, your not going to see black smoke billing out at the top if someone's hair was on fire. It would be white if anything.

You sound like you have experience of burning peoples' heads...!?! :undecided

Could be Particle Illusion, but I've seen other programs/plug-ins that put out the same fake looking fire. Fire & water are possibly two of the most difficult particles to simulate, in my opinion.

That's why you just light the guy on fire and start rolling. You could even be nice about it and tell him your going to do it beforehand.

Well beyond the fact that it's obviously a digital creation...uhh...the actor aint really selling it. It looks like the fire is putting him to sleep.

LOL Tibby

I agree with Envision. You could improve the realism of the fire if you brought its opacity up and slowed it down to match the frame rate of your film... also, if you want to get super detailed, slap a garbage matte over the smoke, and blacken out the part that's burning on his head. And you can add in glowing embers falling off. Just suggestions.

Is it supposed to be for comedic purpose? As in, does the girl just bug the heck out of him till his head errupts in fire? If so it works for the joke, if we are supposed to believe he is on fire.. no.

Suggestions: Try making the flames smaller and denser. Also fire is a strong light source, yet nothing alters around him. There would be a reflection of the fire on the walls on eithere side of him, that would also change position as his head does. Less smoke might help as well. Remember, sometimes less is more.
