I am a newbie for sure. My computers (Mac and PC) are not recognizing the DVX. I just bought it and saw on this site that somebody had to send the camera back to get the firewire capture card replaced. I live in India and can't send the camera back to the States. Any other possibilities before I panic? ???

Jesus.. I cant believe this is happening so much. I would say if you tried it both on your mac and your PC you might be screwed. I would however try a different cable first.

I know this probably isn't what you want to hear, but have you considered buying a DV deck or a cheaper camera to do your capturing? I have never used my main camera to capture from, and it's saved me hundreds for hours worth of head wear. Because of the rapid start and stops, capturing directly from your camera is probably the second worst thing you can do to it beside dropping it on a rock.

No kidding. bad batch maybe.. considering they are replacing a ton of firewire cards in the DVX it seems like a production problem.
