Finished GH1 Short - Victor De Santo: Computer Exorcist

Hey all, I just finished this short, let me know what you think. And please, critique away. Every bit of criticism makes me a better shooter.

You did have a few nice shots...it's a bit soft sometimes, kinda low contrast, lighting and color grading is inconsistent - overall exposure is just inconsistent - overall performances are good and funny, some of the sound recording really needs some work. All in all I did enjoy it though. How did you record sound for this?

Good concept and well executed, but the lighting was flat. You needed less fill light to create more contrast and mood.

Hey! I have that laptop and I love it. Only cost $400 but works pretty great all things considering. Of course I did put Windows XP instead of the default Vista.

I was actually entertained but I'll agree with the others above me.

What kind of lights did you use?

Hey guys thanks for the comments.

The lights I used were a lowell tota kit and I only had two of them, one with an umbrella. So not much control.

I did pull out a 600w with some barndoors from Briteck, but it died 5 minutes before the shoot. Oh well, I think I need to open it up and find a loose connection.

All of the audio was captured with the Sennheiser g2 lav system. I just kept moving it around. I wish I had turned off the computer for the scene on the table, the fan was way too loud for this.

That last shot was the stock lens, in fact the whole scene at the end there was stock. I love it for run and run situations.

Isaac, you're absolutely right about the lighting...I wish I had concentrated on it more. The next short I do will be shorter and I'm hoping I can take some extra time to make it better.

Thanks Everyone! Anything else?

Ah yes. I'm realizing more and more how puny my lights are, especially when working with daylight coming in and indoor lighting (like when he opened the door in your short).
