Finished Films: Rebound and Empty Love

Hey there. I've just joined here (I have a much better introduction post here: http://www.dvxuser.com/V6/showthread.php?p=1873658#post1873658) and I think it's time to shamelessly plug my two films that I finished a few months ago, Rebound and Empty Love. I know everyone's films here are much better than these, as I'm only 14 and these films had a lot of complications going into them which made the films less than what I had originally intended them to be - I've labelled a few of the criticisms over in my introduction post, but I can't be bothered to do it here again. So, I would really like some feedback - my third film under the Helium Cow Films title, Infatuation, will hopefully be finished and released next week.

Rebound is far better than Empty Love. Please don't be too harsh on them >_<

Hi Dim,

You put a lot of effort in this, and considering the reach one has at 14 you did a nice job. When I was 14 I was playing with multiple taperecorders creating radio play stories with dialogue and sound effects just by myself at my room (not for radio use though, far to much bad language in it, haha). Keep going. The earlyer you know what you want to do the more chances you have (or create for yourself).

What camera do you use? I thought I noticed different camera's (quality differences between scenes/shots).

For the next one you should considder finding someone dedicated to sound (borrowing a better mic and experiment with booming). Maybe a just-as-fanatic friend?

Your dialoges have some funny moments and I think the acting is better then I would have expected if I would have been doing something like this with my buddies when I was around 14 years old.

Groetjes,

Ahah, thanks for the positive comments :)

I only used a Sony DCR-HC35E for both films - maybe it was the lighting that made the difference in camera quality. And as for audio, I would love an external mic for my camera, but the problem is that there are no external mic ports on it. Besides, it would be one more person we need to make come along to filming sessions, which is hard enough to organize as it is with usually only two actors and one person behind the camera. I guess the real problem is at the moment that nobody is as interested in making these films as I am - I write, direct, produce, star, edit - pretty much everything short of composing the musical score. They are really MY things - to everyone else, it's just something their friend Dim does that they help out with every now and again, if they're feeling kind.

EDIT: And I just started a blog over on Blogger, for anyone who is interested >_< http://www.heliumcowfilms.blogspot.com/
