Finished DVX100 Stolen Music Video

I didn't get through the whole thing, but it looked pretty cool. The only thing I would suggest is that if the video just shows them playing on the roof the whole time it might get a bit boring. Good job, looks good.

Looked great! But please tell the band to plug patch cords into their amps. It's like the '555-XXXX" phone numbers in movies...takes you out of the moment...

I was going to suggest the guitars be plugged in as well. Overall, good job! It would be nice to see other locations thrown in also.

awesome and simple performance video.
love the over exposed look
one location is fine, the energy is good.
like the still location shots at the end too,
maybe you could throw some more still wide shots if you have some of them performing during the slower part of the song, that way when the song picks up again you go back in crazy mode, so its not the same energy throughout the song, that way you take full advantage of the one location shoot.
great job

Great job. Looks really nice. Everyone has some nice input and Id consider those options.

Wonderfully exposed and CC'd.

nice job and you had some really good shots in there, i agree that during the slow part of the song you should of included some wider shots.

I agree, but we were already on location and the band didnt have them, I couldnt spare the time. It irritates me everytime I see it as well, but I dont think that it hurts the video that much.

for using one location you kept me completely interested...
great shooting and editing and cc...
but i would agree to plug in the cords, etc... like others mentioned... for the next time...

I really liked your shots. All those closeups kept me interested. I really like the shots going up and down the mic stand. Great colors (did you use lights?) and it was well edited. Only critique on that would be the very last cut at the end of the song. It jarred me a little. But overall, excellent job.

Thanks for all your Comments, I owe alot of thanks to my friends, Ron for helping me during production and Patrick for editing this video. Thanks again guys

Aquarius,

I like your shooting style. Great energy. Fun and useful zooms.

Did the roof make for a good enough bounce? I'm curious.

Also, I didn't notice the (lack of) cords, even after reading the comment about them :)

sry I thought it was very much the same..shake camera here shake camera there and voila a muisc video.perhaps a second story would help to make it feel less monotone. First 30seconds got me interested after that I pretty much figured what the rest was gonna be like..so it didn't work for me. Hope that helps somehow..

Nice. I can't help but wonder what an aging or bluing effect might look like in parts of it. Would break the monotony a little.

Great work dude! I really liked the video and the song. The shots were interesting and pleased the eye. The CC looks great and looks like its synced up pretty well. The only things I noticed were the cables, but like you said it was out of your control. And the slow part, some wider shots would have blended nice. But overall I really enjoyed it. Keep up the good work!

I agree w/PrfD and Mimik, I got bored around 80 seconds in, found myself looking at the timeline to see how much was left. BUT I don't blame YOU. No budget is no budget. Tho' I have decided I'm gonna scream if I see another rooftop rock n roll video. Might I suggest when you know you're only gonna have one set, pick something out of cliche. Like if we we're gonna shoot that here in NY I would've maybe went for humour and shot them out of element or environment. Maybe had them walkin down 135 & 3rd in the South Bronx (a rapidly gentrifying area), or completely angsted it out and shot it on a pier or meat district loading dock with cobblestone streets AND told the band to bring all their friends for crowd anarchy. But I forgot what the song was about now...well hell...this is what a famous video director told me once..."the video should sell the artist"...I don't think this is always true, but it is most of the time. It ain't about us (tech/artist people), it's about presenting them (musician/artist people) to the world. But what the hell do I know? I'm thinking about giving up this video **** and doin straight ad work. AND I'm still waiting for the feature film director bug/inspiration to hit me. For some reason, even tho' rich dumb people I know wanna give me bread to do these low budget Blockbuster specials, I haven't been bitten by the "I'm a movie Director" bug. I have no desire to direct features as of now. I keep passing the jobs to friends in the biz. Anyway, what the heck? Get the HVX and shoot all the jittery and racky shots you want. Ciao...

Okay

We had a different location but when we showed up there was another production filming in our spot and the band had drove up to LA from San Diego. I was going to give them a video no matter what, so for a last minute location I think the rooftop rocks.

All we had was the Sunlight and the cameras. I guess the roof may have had some effect but overall I dont think it did that much. It was really bright ouside. We shot from around 11:30 to 3:30 or something. It was a very quick shoot.

Great Job!, Very nice performance vid.. I agree with most that was said, it kept my attention most of the way through.... one or two of the wider shots were a bit distracting to me... You have all these nice, tight, and crazy shots... Not to say that you shouldn't use wide shots, but it lost its momentum for me for some of them of those shots... You have this band rocking out, performing, and then you show behind them a bare space that didn't really compliment the feeling... Maybe put the band towards the edge of the building to show some landscape?

just my 2 cents...really nice job again..

curious how many hours did it take to shoot and how many hours of editing did you have on your hands?
