Finding a spare part.

Just been on the phone to my dealer where they've informed me that my battery case (part number: VGP6237) needs to be replaced (my diagnoses too). Unfortunately, it cant be done under warranty becuase I damaged it (!)

He said the part is cheap (about 80USD) but Panasonic are not making \ selling any parts as the camera model is still new.

I'm located in Brazil and was wondering if this is just a Brazil thing or if I can source the part from somwhere else...??

If anyone has a thought I`d be gratefull as my battery is kept in place with a pencil eraser at the moment!

I'm sure you could find the right part since you have the part number. Have you tried calling any of the numbers in the back of the manual? At the very least, you may be able to ship the camera in for service (although I would be wary of doing this internationally).
