Financing for a HVX

Hello everyone this is my first post on this forum, however I have been visiting this site since the introduction of the first gen DVX. I am a co-owner of a small production company in D.C. and I am trying to buy an HVX but I seem to be having trouble raising enough money to purchase one. If any of you resourceful guys have any ideas or suggestions on how I can get over this hump I would greatly appreciate that.

P.S. I am also a student at Howard University going into my final yr.

Jack in the Box is a good place to start! :)

But seriously, we all know Starbucks is the best place to go!:Drogar-BigGrin(DBG)

But seriously, but more serious-er, I think that you should try to look for either a good deal on an HVX package or worry about it later. You're a student at the moment and unless you need an HVX200 right now for a school film project to give you that HD edge, then I don't think it should be an issue with you at the moment. Just use what the department gives you.

If that's not the answer you wanted to hear, then I don't know exactly what you're asking for.

I too am a co-owner of a small production company and I know what you're going through. However, the difference is that I actually could afford an HVX200 at the moment but I'm looking ahead to see what the RED does and also see if there's any surprises around the corner in both the video and computer worlds (ie. Intel Macintosh systems). Also, unless you've got a good NLE with 24p and HD support, then I think there's some other purchases to consider at the moment.

And don't forget, there's always theft. But seriously (even more serious-er), that Zacuto Pro package isn't a bad deal. It ends up being 12k for the package.

The Zacuto deal is good. Or if you have acess to a credit card with good rates.......then you have it.
But I would have to agree with the post from before. Use what you can get....learn your craft...and advance your knowledge of HD...before you put yourself in debt. It is not worth going into debt for a camera when you can avoid it. If you gotta have it...then rent it. But don't buy unless you can seriously justify the debt. BTW, Steve Weiss at Zacuto rentals is real good about working with you about rental rates. BUT PLEASE......DO YOURSELF A FAVOR.....DO NOT GO INTO DEBT...UNLESS YOU CAN JUSTIFY IT. I say this with 18 years experince in this biz and a lot of debt along the way. PLAY IT SMART.

interesting -- you 'll end up paying about $1200 for HVX, two 4 gig cards, a mattebox, support rods, and a hard case ... that's what maybe about $200 - $400 more than it would actually cost? Really not bad when you consider what you would pay in interest over 2 years - especially when the repayment period would probably be more like 5 or 10 years anway because you would just make the minimum payment.
