Finally made my Decision on buying a 5DM2 or 7D?

OK...I did my research..homework and also I thank everyone here at the forums for helping me out with this. I came close to getting the 5DM2 for my recent client who needs allot of nightclub shots on a weekly basis. I chose the 7D. The 7D comes pretty close to lowlight effectiveness when compared to the Great 5D. The 5D's sensor is great and doesnt crop like the 7D. I chose a canon 24mm 1.4 usm lens for the lowlight club shots and the biggest thing was.....The 5DM3 is due hopefully soon and I will then spend the money for that. I think a 5D now it wouldnt be a wise choice....or course technology changes so fast...Than tell me why the 5DM2 has been out for 2 years and still no 5DM3? I can buy the 7D and feel comfortable or I can buy the 5D and the 5D3 comes out in December and then I try to resale the 5D3 with half the people and lose more money. Thats my opinion. Thanks to everyone for the help again.

It's good to have an opinion on these things, Joe. :D

Here's mine…

Get what you need now. Resale value is a worthless judge of the usefulness of any piece of gear, especially one that can (and should) make you money.

For all anyone knows, there is no 5DIII coming in the immediate future. And why would there be? With the 5DII, the 7D, the 60D, the T2i and the IDIV selling like hotcakes, why would Canon be in a hurry to update?

Get what you need now. If you need the lowlight performance of the 5DII, get it. By the time the 5DIII comes out, a smart businessman/shooter will have paid for that camera ten times over.

I, very much like you said, yup... I've done the research and have decided to buy a 7D. Bought the 7D and compared it side by side to a 5D MKII... The moment I was done comparing the two, I couldn't wait to dump my 7D and buy the 5D.

So can you tell me the main reasons you dumped the 7D for the 5D?
Full sensor of course. So for my needs the crop factor I would buy a 24mm 1.4 lens for lowlight plus just enough wide angle.
So for me that would solve that for me. When it comes to just shooting on a fair to nice day....I noticed on most of the reviews that when comparing side by side the crop is a difference because with the same lens your losing that extra image. Now as far as sharpness goes...seriously you cant tell the difference. On allot of videos you may see it and I believe this is only because people don't know how to focus at the focal point with the 7D. but when you have the right lens on...it is extremely sharp.
