Final Music Video (What They Want)

Re: Final Music Video (What They Want)

First off, I work at a music video channel; I do the editing and broadcast design for the network.

We get a lot of low budget videos (under $20,000) and yours definately was very well done for what I would imagine was a lower budget (I hope that comes across as a complement.)  I really like the scan line effect with the glowing wipe rolling up.  I'll warn you in advance: I just might bite that one off for myself!

One critique that I notice in videos that I really don't like(and they often don't do as well as they should on our network): you see every shot/location in the video revealed in the first 20-30 seconds.  It makes the next 2.5-3 minutes of the video borring to watch, and especially kills the replay interest.  This mostly affects videos that are performance based, narrative and concept elements do not usually have this problem.

Save some of the locations for later in the song.
My favorite Hip Hop video right now is Kayne West, "Jesus Walks", the second version.  That video is soo hot.  5 different elements, 3 of them all different narritive storylines, and some tight-way tight editing.

Also, check out videos by Gold Chains, http://www.ruben.fm/videos.html, my favorite Low/No budget Hip Hop videos.

Thanks alot, yeah my budget was NO MONEY AT ALL. We didn't use a penny to make the video.....

Sorry but I didn't really like it. It was redundant and it was not my style. I do like your site though. :)
